O negócio das colas para Embalagem Flexível, começou com a Arthur Holden and Sons em Birmingham, no final dos anos 70. A principal atividade comercial de Holden era revestimentos industriais e lacas para latas de alimentos e bebidas.
As sinergias tecnológicas do revestimento de latas e embalagens flexíveis eram predominantemente a fabricação de resinas de poliéster personalizadas. Em 1982, a Holden foi adquirida pela ICI.
